Chapter 4 My Sister's Major: [The School of Prophecy]
Chapter 4 My Sister's Major: [The School of Prophecy]
The school bell rang—
The setting sun hung suspended in the drizzle, its light filtered and dimmed.
Zhang Qingzhe bought a blank card and a magic potion at a shop outside the school.
"Zhang Qingzhe, buying so many card-making materials, are you planning to switch careers and become a 'card maker'?"
A sudden voice came from behind.
Zhang Qingzhe turned his head and saw the young man with the perm; his memory also became clear at the same time.
This person's name seems to be Ding Yongkai; we went to the same high school.
There seem to be quite a few magical loops, but they don't like to take the straight path.
Zhang Qingzhe nodded. "Just practicing a little."
Ding Yongkai grinned, a sly smile on his face. "So, if I ever need a card in the future, can I ask you for help, old classmate?"
"Um--"
Zhang Qingzhe gave a mumbled reply, then calmly turned and walked out of the store.
Ding Yongkai swaggered onto the street, gestured with his chin towards a few young men, and said, "That's the guy from earlier. I saw him making cards; he probably has some money on him."
A young man offered Zhang Qingzhe a cigarette, squinting at his retreating figure. "I'm a bit short on cash lately, so I'll have to 'borrow' some from him."
"Hmm! If you don't have money, borrowing some cards wouldn't be bad."
"What is his rank?"
"Don't worry! He's just an ordinary person. When I asked him for money in high school, he didn't dare utter a word."
"Alright, let's get started tomorrow."

When Zhang Qingzhe opened the door, he found that his younger sister had already returned home.
She lay sprawled on the cluttered sofa, intently unpacking the blind boxes.
Various small prizes were scattered on the table, among which were quite a few blank cards.
It turned out to be the case.
Zhang Qingzhe suddenly understood.
No wonder my sister has so many blank cards; they all came from blind boxes.
However, the price of the [card blind box] is not cheap; it is much more expensive than buying the [blank card] alone.
"You bought so many blind boxes? How much did that cost?" Zhang Qingzhe couldn't help but ask.
"I earned this money myself, so I can spend it however I want."
The younger sister didn't even look up, her delicate brows furrowed as she struggled with the stubborn cardboard box.
"You earned it yourself? How did you earn it?" Zhang Qingzhe pressed.
The younger sister instinctively opened her mouth, but the words caught in her throat.
A blush appeared on that pretty little face at a speed visible to the naked eye.
She avoided eye contact and lowered her voice: "Anyway, it's what I earned... you don't need to know the specifics."
Zhang Qingzhe glanced at his younger sister again and found the little devil even more beautiful.
Her profile is exquisite, and her long hair is black and shiny.
Even in her slightly disheveled state, her natural beauty remained undeniable.
A bad thought suddenly popped into my head.
"You shouldn't be doing some shady part-time job, should you?" Zhang Qingzhe asked.
In this bizarre and fantastical world, witches don't have much of a moral compass.
Therefore, even though he sees his younger sister every day, Zhang Qingzhe is still a little worried.
The younger sister frowned, somewhat displeased, and said, "Hmph! It's none of your business!"
"I'm your brother, why can't I tell you what to do?" Zhang Qingzhe was also a little angry.
"Hmm!"
That simple sentence seemed to shut the younger sister up instantly.
She looked Zhang Qingzhe up and down, feeling that her brother seemed to be getting more and more handsome.
"Brother, you're really different from before. You used to say you hated witches and never wanted to get involved in my affairs."
"Really? You said that was in the past, but now I've changed my mind."
Zhang Lingyue was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing:
"Brother, I've noticed you've been worrying a lot lately. But don't worry, I'm not stupid."
"So what exactly are you doing?"
"I don't want to tell you right now," the younger sister said, turning her face away.
Zhang Qingzhe sighed softly.
Since his sister was so adamant, he couldn't press her any further.
The younger sister hesitated for a moment, then handed over a card. "Here! This is for you."
She tried to sound more relaxed, "This is the best card I got, so you're not allowed to be angry anymore."
Zhang Qingzhe took it; the card's surface felt smooth and warm to the touch, indicating it was of quite good quality.
The image depicts two hands, with clear text beside them:
[The Mage's Hand]
[Level: LV1]
[Summon two invisible hands from the void, capable of performing precise operations in place of the card master.]
What is this?
Zhang Qingzhe showed a hint of doubt.
Although he had been in the past for some time, the original owner of this body was just an ordinary person.
Moreover, my relationship with my sister wasn't good before, so I don't actually know much about the cards.
Seeing her brother's puzzled expression, the younger sister leaned closer and explained, "This is a very useful card; it's like you have two extra hands."
"Really? But what can you do at only LV1?"
LV1 is the lowest tier of cards, and they are usually single-use consumables.
"Don't be fooled by its current LV1 status. This card can automatically level up. As long as you keep accumulating experience, it's rumored to be able to reach LV10."
"Really?" Zhang Qingzhe asked, somewhat surprised.
Even if he lacked knowledge about cards, he knew that LV10 was the highest level.
It is said that once you reach LV10, the card can trigger miracles.
My little sister giggled, her eyes sparkling.
"It's just a legend. Surely no one's got the time to actually upgrade this kind of 'early-stage card' to LV10, right?"
Zhang Qingzhe nodded and put the card away.
This actually suits him quite well, because he's a pretty "free" person.
In the past, when he was extremely bored, he could clear his mind while leveling up his character to the maximum level in the beginner village.
"Okay, I won't ask about your work for now."
Zhang Qingzhe changed the subject, "Then you can at least tell me why you bought so many blind boxes, right?"
The younger sister twirled a strand of hair and said, "I can tell you this: I want to apply to the [Prophecy School]."
"The school of prophecy?" Zhang Qingzhe blurted out. "You want to be a charlatan?"
"Brother!" The younger sister puffed out her cheeks instantly, like an angry little pufferfish. "I'm warning you seriously! You're insulting a future 'prophet'!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
Zhang Qingzhe suddenly realized that he had fallen into his old habit again, subconsciously viewing this magical world through the lens of his past life.
[The Prophecy School] In this world, it may indeed be a rigorous science.
"But what does that have to do with you opening blind boxes?" Zhang Qingzhe still didn't understand.
"Since I'm applying to study the 'prophetic school,' I need a tarot deck."
The younger sister explained, her tone becoming serious, "I've collected cards 0 through 20, and now I'm only missing the last one, 'The World.' But it's like it's hiding from me; I just can't seem to draw it."
Upon hearing the word "world," Zhang Qingzhe's heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason.
He instinctively reached into his pocket, his fingertips touching the culprit card.
He felt there was some connection in the darkness, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
After a moment, Zhang Qingzhe asked, "Can't we just buy one ticket?"
"Then it's pointless."
The younger sister shook her head, her expression unusually serious. "The essence of the Prophecy School lies in capturing the inevitability leading to the future from among countless coincidences, so one must use one's own strength to gather them together."
Zhang Qingzhe shrugged, seemingly understanding, and his gaze returned to the pile of empty boxes:
"But you've failed so many times, doesn't that mean you don't have the talent for the [prophetic school]?"
Before Zhang Qingzhe could finish speaking, he saw his younger sister tremble violently.
"Brother, can't you speak properly?"
My sister turned her head away angrily and didn't say another word all night.
However, given that she ate just as much for dinner, Zhang Qingzhe judged that the problem was probably not serious.
So he couldn't be bothered to apologize!
It's so hard to communicate with girls, especially pretty ones.
