Chapter 1565: Janelle Mills, Stop Right There!
Chapter 1565: Janelle Mills, Stop Right There!
Seeing her unaware expression, Justin Kingston pulled her hand and let her sit beside him. Then he told her a story he knew...
On the same night, in the small villa within the housing estate.
Preparing to sleep, Janelle Mills stood by the window, ready to draw the curtains, when she suddenly noticed that the room next door was still lit.
Huh?
Could it be that Sister Sterling hasn’t slept this late?
Curious, Janelle went next door and found the door not closed properly, so she gently pushed open the slightly ajar door to find the bed empty.
As she walked closer, she saw a woman in front of the bathroom mirror—Carlotta Sterling, wearing soft silk pajamas, admiring herself in the mirror.
Janelle breathed a sigh of relief and casually leaned against the door frame, arms crossed as she watched her.
Following her gaze, she saw Sister Sterling reach out and gently stroke the necklace around her neck.
"It’s so beautiful!" Janelle couldn’t help but speak and took a step forward, "Who gave it to you?"
Carlotta turned her head at the sound, almost startled by her.
At this moment, her daughter approached and reached out to pick up the pendant, "How come I haven’t seen this necklace? It’s expensive, right? Is it the latest Cartier? Can I borrow it for a few days?"
Before Carlotta could answer, the ringtone from the cellphone on the dresser interrupted them.
Janelle quickly looked over, and before Carlotta could grab the phone, she saw the incoming call display—Old Mills!
"Answer it, quick!!" Janelle was ecstatic, staring at her, "Come on, come on!" She almost grabbed the phone.
Carlotta stepped back two paces, and under her daughter’s persistent urging, she reluctantly answered, "Hello."
"Have you gone to bed?" The voice of the middle-aged man came over.
Janelle was thrilled, stepped closer to eavesdrop, while Carlotta awkwardly replied, "Not yet."
"Have you worn the necklace I gave you? How does it feel? Do you like this style?"
Well then, the father’s words fell right into the ears of the daughter who had her ears perked up!
Janelle widened her eyes in surprise! So the necklace was given by Old Mills?? Oh my god!!
"She wore it, she wore it!! She’s wearing it!!" Janelle rushed to answer, "Not only wore it but kept admiring herself in the mirror! Sister Sterling really likes it! Send more next time!!"
"Janelle!!" Carlotta was extremely embarrassed, flustered and at a loss, "What are you talking about?!"
"Haha!" The girl spun around and dashed out, "She did wear it! Were you trying to fool him?"
"You..." Carlotta grabbed the phone and chased out the door, hanging up directly, "Janelle, stop right there!!"
"Hahahaha!" She was simply over the moon, the reconciliation seemed so promising?
As for Nathan Mills, he heard his daughter’s words loud and clear.
He didn’t call back again, and alone, his heart couldn’t be happier at this moment.
Janelle ran downstairs, and Carlotta was really angry, holding the railing, wearing slippers, she also chased downstairs with heavy steps, "You went too far! What nonsense are you spouting?"
"I’m speaking the truth! He bought you a necklace, and you’ve accepted it, why be so coy?"
As Carlotta was about to descend the stairs, she gripped the railing and halted her pace; her brow furrowed as she suddenly felt dizzy.
Janelle, gasping for breath after reaching the sofa, noticed the sudden silence and realized something was wrong.
She turned back and saw the scene, her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly rushed over, "Mom, what’s wrong?"
Gripping the railing tightly, Carlotta tried to steady herself.
Janelle grabbed her, anxious and worried, "What’s going on? Are you uncomfortable somewhere? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
Carlotta frowned and shook her head, "It’s nothing, just help me sit on the sofa for a while." She began to descend the stairs.
"Careful." Janelle helped her to sit on the sofa and then poured her a glass of warm water, "You really don’t need to go to the hospital? Where are you not feeling well?"
Carlotta lifted her gaze, shook her head, took the glass of water, and had a sip; she felt much better.
