Chapter 20 Reba Visits
Chapter 20 Reba Visits
"Yes," Xu Kunkun said, "Sunshine Entertainment."
Lu Han glanced at Zeng Hao. "You guys made this movie yourselves?"
"Investment and production, director Peng Bing," Zeng Hao said, "Theatrical release in September."
Lu Han nodded, stopped talking, stood up, put down her cup, and went back into the shed.
The break is over, and recording continues.
The song was recorded over two and a half days. The third take was a complete recording. The post-production producer did some basic processing. After the demo was released, Zeng Hao listened to it once in the monitoring area.
no problem.
He signed the confirmation form, completed the final document handover with the SM contact, and saw Lu Han off. Chen Mo was beside him. Lu Han turned around, shook hands with Zeng Hao, and said, "There's a chance to collaborate."
"There's a chance," Zeng Hao said.
The car drove away, and Chen Mo patted Zeng Hao on the shoulder, "It's all settled, Mr. Zeng. The 65 was well spent."
Zeng Hao didn't speak, but turned his head and glanced at Xu Kunkun.
The child stood there, watching the car disappear into the intersection. When he came to his senses, his expression was a little blank, as if he had just been pulled out of something.
Zeng Hao walked over and asked, "How was it?"
Xu Kunkun came to his senses and said, "Pretty...pretty impressive."
"What makes it so impressive?"
"That's right," Xu Kunkun thought for a moment, "When he recorded the second take, he received two suggestions for revision. He changed the first one and adjusted the second one by half. He told the producer about his own ideas, and after listening, the producer felt that his direction was correct, so in the end, he went with his own ideas."
He paused for a moment, then said, "It felt like he wasn't just singing; he was controlling the entire recording process."
After listening, Zeng Hao didn't say "Not bad," nor did he ask "What did you learn?" He simply looked at him and calmly asked, "Do you think you can achieve this level now?"
Xu Kunkun was silent for a few seconds, then shook his head.
"Then keep practicing," Zeng Hao said. "Did you receive the notice about the extra dialogue class?"
"received."
"Go back to class."
Zeng Hao took out his car keys, turned around and walked towards the parking lot. Xu Kunkun followed, without saying anything more.
Only after getting into the car did Xu Kunkun manage to utter, "Mr. Zeng, thank you for bringing me here today."
Zeng Hao started the car, didn't respond to that sentence, shifted the car into first gear, and said, "Fasten your seatbelt."
Xu Kunkun tied himself up and turned his head to look out the car window.
Zeng Hao glanced at him in the rearview mirror. His face, still somewhat youthful, was pressed against the car window, and his eyes had a kind of tinge that had been ignited by something but hadn't yet caught fire.
enough.
Bury the tinder inside, and it will burn on its own later.
After dropping Xu Kunkun off at the training center, Zeng Hao didn't linger and drove straight back to the company.
Back in the office, Sister Liu was organizing a stack of documents. When she saw him come in, she looked up and said, "Mr. Zeng, someone came by this afternoon and said she wanted to talk to you about signing a contract. I asked her to leave her contact information."
Zeng Hao sat down in the chair. "Who?"
"Her name is Dilraba," Sister Liu paused, "I looked her up online, she's somewhat famous, she's played a few minor roles, but she's not exactly well-known. It seems like another company is currently negotiating a contract with her."
Zeng Hao recalled the timeline, glanced at Sister Liu, and asked, "Which other place is it?"
"I heard it's Jiaxing Media."
Zeng Hao nodded, hung his coat on the back of the chair, and said, "Ask her to come tomorrow at 10 a.m. Also, prepare the contract according to version three."
Sister Liu's eyes lit up. "Okay!"
Dilraba arrived five minutes earlier than the agreed time.
Sister Liu led the person in, and Zeng Hao did not look up immediately. He finished reading the budget sheet in his hand before putting down his pen.
Dilraba, 22 years old, sat in the chair opposite, her back very straight, her eyes showing a hint of inquiry, but she was trying hard to remain restrained.
Her appearance was obvious, but after she came in, she didn't use her looks to do anything extra. She just sat there and waited for Zeng Hao to speak first.
This made Zeng Hao glance at her for a second longer.
"You came to us on your own initiative," Zeng Hao said. "What was the specific reason?"
Dilraba spoke without hesitation, "Jaywalk Studio offered me a contract, and I'm considering it. I'd like to learn more about other options, and your company is also on my radar."
What are the terms of Jaywalk's contract?
"Twelve years," she said. "The basic profit sharing is 70% for the company and 30% for me. The first three years are mainly for training, and resources are allocated by the company."
Zeng Hao put down his pen. "What do you think of these conditions?"
Dilraba paused for a moment, then said, "I think twelve years is too long."
"Twelve years is too long," Zeng Hao repeated the sentence, his tone flat, "but you still haven't said what you think is insufficient."
Dilraba looked at him and said, "Resources are arranged by the company. The first three years are mainly for training. Putting these two sentences together, it means that I have no say in what roles I get or what shows I appear on for the first three years."
"What right do you have to demand a say?" Zeng Hao asked directly. "Do you even know your current market value?"
Dilraba did not answer immediately.
"No representative works, no stable fan base, good image and resources but not yet validated by the market," Zeng Hao continued, his tone not harsh, but stating a fact, "Jaywalk is willing to give you a contract because they are betting on your long-term value, not because you are worth this price now, do you understand the difference?"
Dilraba stared at Zeng Hao's nose, then gently pressed her finger on her knee. "Understood."
"So what do you want from me?"
"I want to know what you can offer," she said. "It's not about comparing, I just want to know what terms you can set."
Zeng Hao leaned back in his chair. "The contract is for five years, split 50/50. The first year will include two confirmed roles—" He paused for a moment, "the female lead in an urban drama and an important supporting role in a period drama. Both will be broadcast simultaneously on TV and online, not online. We're already negotiating with the broadcasting platforms."
Dilraba's eyes flickered.
"After five years, it will be up to you to decide whether to renew the contract," Zeng Hao continued. "I won't lock you in for twelve years, but I require that all commercial endorsements and drama resources be allocated by the company during these five years. This is the same as Jiaxing's arrangement. The difference is that the resources I give you are negotiated in advance and written into the contract, not just a verbal promise, so that you can feel more at ease."
Dilraba stared at him for a few seconds. "TV dramas, can you get TV broadcast rights now?"
Do you know the TV series "Go Princess Go"?
Dilraba nodded. "It's because of your recent web series, which is super popular, so I came to you on my own initiative."
"Not bad," Zeng Hao nodded. "The next project is a theatrical film, releasing in September. The theme song has just been recorded." He looked at her. "I don't need you to believe me now, but the resources I just mentioned will be written in black and white in the contract if you sign it. If any clause is not fulfilled, you have the right to unilaterally terminate the contract, and we will pay the penalty. You should understand this."
Dilraba lowered her head and remained silent for a considerable period of time.
Zeng Hao didn't urge him. He picked up his pen and looked at the budget sheet in his hand again.
About a minute later, she looked up and asked, "May I take a look at the contract first?"
