Chapter 238: Loving Chicken Soup
Chapter 238: Loving Chicken Soup
In the afternoon, rumors in the unit were saying that Yang Lin might have had a miscarriage.Because when Chen Jun carried Yang Lin to the infirmary, someone saw that Yang Lin’s pants were soaked with blood.
Everyone was speculating whether it was Chen Jun or Chen Jun’s mother who did it.
Many people heard Chen Jun’s mother and Yang Lin arguing.
Later, Chen Jun yelled a loud shout, and his voice spread out.
Most people thought it was likely Chen Jun.
Because shortly after he yelled, he came out carrying Yang Lin.
"Their family is really strange. Originally, Chen Jun’s mother and Li Dongxiang couldn’t get along, arguing and fighting every day, and now it’s the same with Yang Lin. Even if both sides were at fault, it seems that Chen Jun’s mother is a difficult person to deal with."
One of the military wives said.
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone nodded in agreement, thinking she made a valid point.
When Chen Jun and Li Dongxiang hadn’t divorced yet, Yang Lin’s family conditions were quite good.
Everyone clearly saw how Chen Jun’s mother treated Yang Lin.
When Yang Lin became her daughter-in-law, the family had issues, and the conditions deteriorated, Chen Jun’s mother’s attitude made a 180-degree turn.
Let’s not mention the mess in Chen Jun’s family.
Anyway, today was the happiest day in Ye’s mother’s life.
In the morning, Ye Hao called to say he and Gu Yi had reconciled and asked her to make chicken soup. She was so happy she didn’t even finish listening to Ye Hao’s words.
She hurried to prepare, first running to the market to buy the largest hen.
After returning home, she washed and stewed it, busy all morning.
Finally, before lunch, she managed to make the chicken soup.
She carried the whole clay pot and went to find Gu Yi following the address Ye Hao gave her.
When she knocked on the door, it was Gu’s father who opened it.
Gu’s father saw Ye’s mother and found it quite strange.
"In-law, how did you find your way here?"
Gu’s father asked.
"In-law, Ye Hao gave me the address. I wanted to ask you something?"
Ye’s mother looked behind Gu’s father, but she didn’t see Gu Yi.
She was overjoyed, yet she asked softly.
"What is it?"
Gu’s father thought that Ye’s mother seemed particularly happy today. Then it hit him; it was Ye Hao who gave her the address, so she must be here to ask if Gu Yi and Ye Hao had reconciled.
"I heard from Ye Hao that he and Yiyi have reconciled. Is that true?"
Although Ye’s mother thought Ye Hao wouldn’t joke about this, she was afraid he misunderstood.
So when she didn’t see Gu Yi, she wanted to ask Gu’s father, who would surely know.
"Yes, it seems so. What is it that you’re carrying?"
Gu’s father smiled and nodded.
He also noticed that Ye’s mother was holding a large clay pot, and he could smell the chicken soup.
"I’m here to deliver this. In the morning, Ye Hao called me to make soup for Yiyi to nourish her body. I hurried and managed to finish it before lunch."
Ye’s mother placed the clay pot on the table and said with a smile.
"You are too polite."
Gu’s father also smiled and said.
"I’m just so happy these two finally figured things out. I can finally set my mind at ease. By the way, where’s Yiyi? Is she still in class?"
Ye’s mother had been here for a while but hadn’t seen Gu Yi, so she asked Gu’s father.
"No, she’s still sleeping in the room. She didn’t rest well last night. You sit, and I’ll go get her."
Gu’s father said as he headed towards Gu Yi’s room.
Ye’s mother quickly stood up as well.
Gu’s father had just knocked when Gu Yi opened the door and came out.
Seeing Gu Yi put Ye’s mother in a particularly good mood.
But when she glanced at Gu Yi’s belly, she stood frozen in place.
"Mom, you’re here."
Gu Yi walked up to Ye’s mother before she came back to her senses.
"Yiyi, did you hide from me on the street last time because you were afraid I’d find out you’re pregnant?"
After Gu Yi heard what she said, she nodded with a smile.
"At that time, I had decided not to continue with Ye Hao and was afraid that if you knew about her presence, things would get tangled again."
Gu Yi said, feeling somewhat guilty, while touching her belly.
Now Ye’s mother finally understood why Gu Yi, who was always so polite, avoided her when they met.
Ye’s mother always thought Gu Yi didn’t want them to disturb her life.
She also thought her son must have done something wrong, so she wanted to respect Gu Yi’s choice.
Who knew it was actually for this reason.
"Come, come, sit here. In-law, could you please fetch me a bowl and spoon?"
Ye’s mother quickly helped Gu Yi to sit on the sofa.
She then directed her words to Gu’s father.
Gu’s father quickly went to the kitchen to get the things Ye’s mother needed and handed them to her.
Ye’s mother served Gu Yi a full bowl of chicken soup and even added a large chicken leg.
"You are a stubborn one, caring for yourself with a big belly before your father came?"
Ye’s mother thought about Gu Yi being a young girl, with physical inconveniences, needing to attend class and take care of herself.
Her heart ached for her.
They always had a good relationship, so Ye’s mother felt particularly pained for Gu Yi upon hearing this.
"It’s fine. At that time, I was still early in the pregnancy, and the baby was very good. I didn’t have any abnormal reactions."
Gu Yi smiled, comforting Ye’s mother.
"Very sensible, knowing it’s not easy to be a mom."
Ye’s mother wiped her eyes.
She had always been hopeful, but who knew this little one would come at such a critical time?
"Yiyi, why don’t you move back in for now? I’ll cook whatever you like for you. It’s been a tough time for the in-law. Leave the rest to me and have a good rest."
Ye’s mother was eager to make up for the time she hadn’t taken care of Gu Yi already.
Thinking that Gu’s father, being a man, surely didn’t have as many culinary tricks as she did.
She thought it would be better if Gu Yi moved back so she could be taken care of closely.
"Mom, let’s not move for now. They say you shouldn’t move anything during pregnancy to avoid offending the fetus spirit. I’m living here, and she’s very obedient in my belly. Besides, it’s not far from your place. You can come over when you have time, and I can visit you whenever I can, isn’t that okay?"
Gu Yi had heard of such sayings, though she wasn’t sure if they were credible.
But to soothe Ye’s mother, she had to use this as an excuse for now.
Gu Yi felt that since they had already parted ways, it was good to continue living separately in the future. She heard people say that before having children, minor frictions could be resolved with compromise, but after having children, the points of conflict increase, and over time, they will erupt. Now, being close but still having independent space seemed good.
"Okay, then let’s not move for now. We’ll talk again after the child is born."
Ye’s mother, being from the older generation, had heard of these old sayings many times.
So when Gu Yi mentioned it, she agreed, but she still thought they’d eventually live together in the future.
"Sure, we’ll talk about it later."
Gu Yi nodded, smiling.
After seeing that Gu Yi had finished eating, Ye’s mother said she was going to go home first and would come back tomorrow.
Gu’s father and Gu Yi escorted her to the door.
Gu’s father watched Ye’s mother’s back.
"Your mother-in-law is really happy. Look at her, she’s walking briskly."
Gu’s father said to Gu Yi with a smile.
Ye’s mother didn’t go straight home but instead went to Ye Qian’s shop.
She had to quickly share this good news with Ye Fu to let him be happy too.
