Stella Charlie had to accompany her boss on a business trip early the next morning, so she didn’t have much time for idle thoughts. After packing her luggage, she collapsed on the bed and fell asleep.She fell asleep to the sound of rain outside the window, but her dreams were not peaceful.
"Ding dong——"
"Ding dong——"
The doorbell kept ringing, waking Stella Charlie from her dream.
"Ding dong——"
Hearing the sound clearly, she realized it wasn’t coming from her dream.
She picked up her phone to check the time: 3:21 AM.
Stella Charlie went downstairs and was slightly surprised when she saw Vincent Warner’s face on the monitor at the door.
He looked like he had walked over in the rain, his hair hanging wetly, and not a dry spot on his body.
Taking a deep breath, Stella Charlie opened the door, frowning with some dissatisfaction in her tone: "What do you want to do so late?"
Vincent Warner looked down at her, his eyes dazed, smelling of alcohol, water dripping from his hair causing him to squint slightly.
Before Stella Charlie could say anything more, Vincent suddenly stepped forward, forcefully pulling Stella into his arms, pressing his lips against hers.
The rain-soaked clothes sent a chill through her, causing Stella Charlie to shiver and then push Vincent away forcefully: "What are you doing?!"
Vincent just looked at her, his gaze somewhat unfocused, as if he hadn’t heard what Stella Charlie was saying.
Suddenly, his body seemed to lose its support, falling towards Stella Charlie.
Stella Charlie struggled to hold him up, knowing she couldn’t vent her anger on someone who was drunk.
Looking at the rain outside, she couldn’t bear to leave Vincent outside.
"How did you end up drinking this much?"
Vincent looked at her hesitantly, without responding.
Stella Charlie helped him to a chair, her pajamas already soaked.
As she was about to turn and grab a towel, Vincent reached out, winding his arms around her waist, his cold touch sending chills.
"Vincent Warner!" Stella Charlie scolded him, but couldn’t awaken his senses.
Stella Charlie tried to break free, but both of them ended up tumbling onto the carpet...
Whether it was the loss of control due to the alcohol or the overwhelming yearning from so many years apart, he was rougher and more unruly than ever before.
From the carpet to the couch, until the morning light faintly illuminated the sky outside the window.
After a quick freshen-up, Stella Charlie left Vincent behind and headed directly to the airport, catching up on sleep on the plane.
After disembarking, she just turned off airplane mode, and saw two missed calls and several unread messages on her phone.
All from Vincent Warner.
Asking where she went.
Apologizing for getting drunk last night.
Stella Charlie didn’t reply to any, put her phone away, and focused on her work.
Vincent Warner didn’t know Stella was on a business trip, so he waited at her house until evening without seeing her return.
He called again, but it rang twice before being hung up.
It seemed last night’s incident made her angry.
Vincent Warner was carefully crafting a message when he suddenly heard a noise at the door.
He immediately got up and went to the door, watching it open.
Kai Jacobs and Vincent Warner were both taken aback, obviously not expecting to see each other there.
The anticipation in Vincent Warner’s eyes immediately turned into hostility. Kai Jacobs quickly regained his composure after his initial surprise: "Is she home?"
Vincent didn’t answer but asked in return: "How did you open the door?"
Kai Jacobs replied casually, "I used to live here with her."
Vincent Warner’s expression turned grim, his brows knitting tightly.
But considering Stella Charlie had gone on a blind date, it indicated that she and Kai Jacobs probably weren’t what he thought they were, at most just roommates.
Yet even so, it made Vincent Warner somewhat jealous.
