Chapter 13, First Attack Spell
Chapter 13, First Attack Spell
Bai Lu shook her head:
"Just trust your senior, you're definitely better at electrical engineering."
Why do you say that?
"Yesterday, when you were sitting in the magic measuring chair, I noticed that your electrical reactance was particularly high."
Zhang Lingyun was somewhat confused:
"Does this have anything to do with electric magic?"
Bai Lu reluctantly paid the money, and couldn't help but complain again:
"For the next few months, I'll be living on instant noodles."
After saying that, she picked up the bottle of potion and put it into Zhang Lingyun's hand.
Zhang Lingyun glanced down at the medicine bottle.
The liquid inside flickered with tiny electric sparks, looking like flowing fireworks.
"What are the digestion conditions?" Zhang Lingyun asked again.
Bai Lu didn't answer directly, but instead picked up a copper wire from the side and casually bent it into the shape of a small fork.
"The instant you drink the potion, you stick this fork into the socket."
Zhang Lingyun frowned; this behavior looked a bit like self-torture no matter how you looked at it.
Why do this?
Bai Lu answered frankly:
"To digest this potion, one must withstand a powerful electric shock."
Zhang Lingyun then suddenly realized what was going on.
No wonder Bai Lu just said that high electrical resistance is very important for learning electric magic.
Zhang Lingyun took a deep breath and did as Bai Lu said.
The moment the copper fork was inserted into the socket, a strange sensation instantly swept over my entire body.
This was the first time he had ever digested a magical potion, and it felt as if his very soul was about to float away.
Just as the tingling sensation reached its peak, a card slowly fell from the void, clearly printed with the image of [Lightning Arrow].
Bai Lu clapped her hands excitedly:
"I told you you had a talent for this!"
The waiter standing nearby was also stunned and couldn't help but exclaim in admiration:
"I can't believe you succeeded on your first try! That's really amazing!"
Xia Youran also looked surprised.
But she was still sulking about the two of them holding hands earlier, and refused to say a single word of praise to Zhang Lingyun.
Zhang Lingyun let out a breath and reached up to smooth down her hair, which was sticking up from the electric shock.
Bai Lu didn't want to waste a moment, so she pulled Zhang Lingyun along and headed towards the training room on the second floor.
This time, Xia Youran could no longer sit idly by.
Seeing Bai Lu's warm and friendly attitude towards Zhang Lingyun, she suddenly felt a sense of crisis.
She quickly caught up with them, seized the opportunity, and gently pulled their clasped hands apart.
Bai Lu glanced at Xia Youran with a puzzled look, but generously didn't say anything, only giving her a gentle smile.
Afterwards, Bai Lu led the two into the training room, directly interrupting the middle-aged sorcerer's instruction.
She didn't directly call him a fraud, but instead asked him a question under the pretext of:
"Teacher, could you please demonstrate the specific [defense effect]?"
The middle-aged sorcerer immediately made an excuse to decline.
He knew very well that Bai Lu was a top student of the [Sculpting School], and he couldn't withstand her attacks at all.
But Bai Lu quickly said:
"It wasn't me who went on stage; it was the student next to me."
She pulled Zhang Lingyun in front of everyone:
"This student only awakened yesterday, so he's perfect for demonstrating with you, teacher."
Some of the students in the class had come yesterday, and Zhang Lingyun had left a deep impression on them.
The crowd below whispered amongst themselves, confirming that what Bai Lu said was true.
Upon hearing that the other party was a newly awakened novice, the middle-aged warlock was completely relieved.
He planned to use Zhang Lingyun as a stepping stone to showcase his skills and make it easier to continue making money later.
The area in front of the training room was quickly cleared out.
Zhang Lingyun was pushed onto the field by Bai Lu.
In front of all the students, he revealed the first-level spell, Lightning Bolt.
Seeing this, the charlatan became even more convinced and even conceived a crooked idea.
Originally, he only needed to defend against this attack.
But now he plans to use [Reflection Magic].
The [Lightning Arrow] was deflected back to Zhang Lingyun, giving the students present a good shock.
As Bailu continued to inspire, the atmosphere at the scene steadily rose.
Zhang Lingyun infused magic into the [Lightning Arrow] card.
This was his first time using offensive magic, so he couldn't quite gauge the appropriate level of power.
Without realizing it, he poured all the magic power in his body into it.
The next second, a thunderous explosion was heard.
A lightning bolt as thick as a telephone pole slammed towards the charlatan warlock.
Although this sorcerer was a fraud, he did have some real skills.
He immediately activated his magic to create an [energy shield], and then prepared to cast [Reflection Magic].
But he never expected that this first-ring [Lightning Arrow] would be so terrifyingly powerful.
A loud bang.
The lightning bolt pierced through the energy shield, blasting him away.
The training room was instantly turned into a mess.
A large crater was blasted into the ground, the tables and chairs next to it were shattered, the glass windows exploded, and even the curtains were ignited by the electric arc.
The conman sorcerer was tossed into the air like a tattered sack before crashing heavily to the ground, unable to move.
The conman had achieved his goal; the students were all stunned.
Bai Lu was initially overjoyed, but then her face showed disbelief and surprise.
She looked at Zhang Lingyun:
"What exactly did you do last night?"
Zhang Lingyun casually replied:
"I didn't do anything."
Bai Lu shook her head, her long ponytail swaying wildly.
"Impossible. The destructive power of your spell at this level is not something that can be achieved with 12,000 mana."
Without saying a word, she reached out and grabbed Zhang Lingyun's hand again.
This time, Xia Youran reacted very quickly and grabbed Zhang Lingyun's other hand.
Bai Lu tugged at it but couldn't budge it. She turned around and saw Xia Youran sulking.
The two girls stared at each other for a second, and sparks seemed to fly in the air.
Bai Lu went around behind the two of them, pushed their backs, and walked towards the magic testing room from yesterday.
Bai Lu secured Zhang Lingyun to the testing chair, operating the buttons on the instrument while secretly glancing at Xia Youran and whispering:
"Didn't you say yesterday that you weren't his girlfriend?"
Xia Youran's cheeks flushed slightly, and she coughed awkwardly.
Even now, she doesn't feel like she's Zhang Lingyun's girlfriend.
But I felt a little awkward and didn't want to see him getting close to other girls.
She tactically took a sip of her drink and said:
"That's right, I'm not his girlfriend, I'm actually his cousin, so of course I have to take care of him."
Bai Lu shrugged, seemingly somewhat disbelieving, but didn't say anything more.
She reached out and pulled the switch off the detector.
A strong electric current suddenly surged through my body, and a tingling sensation shot straight through my limbs and bones.
Zhang Lingyun felt her hair stand up again.
At this moment, he finally believed that Bai Lu's judgment was truly accurate.
