Despite his kind offer being rejected, the young man wasn’t disappointed. He smiled and asked, "Pretty lady, are you heading to Qiong City for vacation?"
"Mhm." After Su Yue sat down and started fastening her seatbelt, she was surprised the young man behind her was trying to talk to her again.
Although she didn’t want to engage with him, she still gave a soft reply out of politeness.
"I’ve been to Qiong City a few times, so I know the area pretty well..."
The young man chattered on endlessly about fun places in Qiong City, trying to cozy up to Su Yue so he could eventually ask for her contact information.
This move had always worked like a charm for him, but unfortunately, Su Yue wasn’t the least bit interested. She just kept responding in a half-hearted tone.
Lin Li was looking out the window at the airport when he suddenly felt something touch his lower leg.
"Hm?"
He glanced down and saw Su Yue tapping his leg with her foot.
When he looked up at her, Su Yue shot him a meaningful glance.
Lin Li took the hint and understood immediately. Su Yue wanted him to cut in and interrupt the young man’s incessant chatter.
"Let’s see... we should get to Qiong City Airport around noon. Once we’re settled in at the hotel, what’s the plan for afterward?" Lin Li asked Su Yue, coming to her rescue.
The young man, who had been chattering away at Su Yue, immediately fell silent when he heard Lin Li—who had been quiet the whole time—speak up.
Su Yue breathed a silent sigh of relief. Then, she smiled at Lin Li and said, "After we get settled at the hotel, let’s head to the beach first."
"Going to the beach in the middle of the day? We’ll get baked alive. I think we should rest at the hotel this afternoon and go out in the evening when it’s not so hot," Lin Li said.
"Who arrives somewhere new and just wastes an entire afternoon in a hotel? There are so many fun places in Qiong City; we can’t just throw away a whole afternoon!" Su Yue immediately shot down Lin Li’s suggestion.
The young man in the row behind them watched Lin Li and Su Yue chatting animatedly. He thought to himself, ’I’m perfectly good-looking, and I just talked my head off without getting this pretty girl the least bit interested in a conversation.’
But the guy next to her could spark a lively discussion with just one simple sentence. It left a sour taste in his mouth.
So, he took out his laptop and started to get some work done, hoping it would distract him and ease his frustration.
Just then, the in-flight announcement came on again, a pleasant voice echoing throughout the cabin.
"Dear passengers, the plane is about to take off. Please check again to ensure your seatbelts are securely fastened."
Hearing that the plane was about to take off, Lin Li and Su Yue stopped their debate.
"Let’s just decide whether to go to the beach once we get there," Lin Li said to Su Yue.
Su Yue hummed in agreement, thinking to herself, ’Once we get to the hotel, I’m going to convince Lin Li to come out with me no matter what. I can’t let him waste the whole afternoon holed up in the room.’
WHIRRR...
The plane’s engines spooled up, and the captain in the cockpit taxied the aircraft onto the runway.
The passengers could feel the plane begin to accelerate, moving faster and faster down the runway.
With a sudden feeling of weightlessness, everyone knew the plane had taken to the sky.
Lin Li let out a slow breath. During that brief moment of weightlessness as the plane took off, his heart had hammered in his chest and sweat beaded on his palms.
It wasn’t a surprising reaction. After all, this was his first time on a plane in all his years in this world.
Just then, he noticed an amused gaze fixed on him from the side.
"What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?" Lin Li turned to his side and asked Su Yue, a little confused.
"Lin Li! You seemed so nervous just now. Are you afraid of flying?" Su Yue asked with a bright smile.
"It’s normal to be a little nervous on your first flight," Lin Li admitted readily.
"Huh? This is your first time on a plane?" A surprised look crossed Su Yue’s pretty face. Based on how he’d handled all the boarding procedures at the airport, he didn’t seem like a first-time flyer at all.
Of course, Lin Li could guess why she had that surprised look on her face.
But he couldn’t very well tell her, ’I’ve been on planes in another world, just not on Blue Star.’
"Yep, this is my first time on a plane."
"But the way you went through the boarding process earlier... you didn’t seem at all like someone flying for the first time."
"You don’t need to have flown before to know the basics. Airport scenes are in tons of TV shows. Watch a few, and you’ll naturally figure out how to board."
Lin Li had anticipated this question, so he quickly came up with a reasonable explanation.
Su Yue nodded at his explanation. Then, a thought seemed to strike her, and a brilliant smile suddenly bloomed on her face.
’What’s going on? Why is she suddenly so happy...?’ Lin Li watched the beaming Su Yue, completely bewildered.
When Su Yue heard this was Lin Li’s first time on a plane, the thought that he was sharing this "first" because of her made her secretly delighted.
