Chapter 60 Xiaotian: I Want to Be the Boss's Wife

She reached out and pulled out a yellowed comic book. "Wow, isn't this 'Slam Dunk'? I remember you always hid it from me when we were little!"

Liu Haochun stood at the door, looking at the old photos on the wall. There was a picture of Lin Feng in his school uniform, a picture of him and Xiao Tian by the river, and a copy of the admission notice from Beijing Film Academy.

"Don't rummage through it!" Lin Feng followed her in and saw Tian Xiwei pulling his drawer wide open. He quickly pulled her away. "We have to get up early tomorrow, go to sleep."

"Okay, okay," Tian Xi pouted and stuffed the comic back onto the bookshelf. "You stingy little thing."

After Raymond Lam closed the door, the two lay on the bed. Tian Xiwei tossed and turned, unable to sleep: "Do you think our movie can break 500 million? If it does, will Brother Feng treat us to Disneyland?"

"Definitely," Liu Haochun said, staring at the ceiling. "He always keeps his promises."

On the living room sofa, Raymond Lam put a cushion behind his back, picked up his phone, and scrolled through the latest movie reviews, a smile involuntarily creeping onto his lips.

At six o'clock in the morning, Lin's mother's footsteps echoed in the kitchen. Lin Feng opened his eyes; the sky outside the window was just beginning to lighten.

As he got up, Lin's father was walking out: "Awake? I'm going for a walk in the park."

"Dad, I'll go with you."

The father and son walked down the alley, and elderly people doing their morning exercise greeted them: "Xiao Lin's back? The movie was great!"

Lin's father grinned from ear to ear, patting Lin Feng on the back: "This kid, at least he didn't embarrass me."

"I've always caused you worry."

"What's there to worry about?" Lin's father waved his hand. "Your mother was looking through your childhood award certificates until midnight last night."

When Lin's mother returned after buying the steamed buns, she found that she had already cooked porridge and boiled a few eggs in the pot. "I wonder if Haochun and Yitong will be able to eat this," she said, placing the kimchi jar on the table.

"Mom, they're not picky," Lin Feng said, helping to set the table. "Your cooking is much better than what you get at the hotel."

At eight o'clock sharp, Lin Feng knocked on the guest room door: "Yi Tong, get up and have breakfast."

Li Yitong opened the door, her hair neatly combed: "What delicious food did Auntie make?"

"Porridge with eggs, and your favorite cold radish salad."

When Tian Xiwei and Liu Haochun were woken up, they were still half asleep. "If you don't get up soon, Sister Yitong will eat all the steamed buns!"

"My steamed buns!" Tian Xiwei jumped up instantly, grabbed Liu Haochun, and rushed to the bathroom.

At the dining table, Lin's mother peeled eggs for everyone. "Weiwei, eat more," she said, handing the biggest steamed bun to Tian Xiwei.

"The steamed buns in Chongqing are better than the ones outside!" Tian Xiwei exclaimed, her mouth stuffed full. "Especially this braised pork bun, I could eat three of them!"

Liu Haochun sipped his porridge and said softly, "Auntie's shredded radish is so delicious, it's sour and spicy."

"Eat more if you like," Lin's mother said with a smile, placing a piece of food on her plate. "Haochun is such a quiet and well-behaved child."

While Lin Feng was eating, his phone rang. It was Lao Yang: "Boss, the company's phone lines are ringing off the hook! Huaying, Enlight Media, and Bona Film Group have all sent people, asking when your next film will start production, saying they want to invest! Several other companies want to sign you, they said..."

"Understood," Lin Feng said calmly. "Tell them we'll talk after the roadshow ends and we return to Beijing. I don't have time now."

"Boss, this is a big company..." Old Yang said anxiously.

"Even the biggest company has to wait until I finish what I'm doing now." Lin Feng hung up the phone, and Tian Xi's eyes widened slightly: "Brother Feng, are you going to be headhunted by a big company?"

"I can't poach you," Lin Feng laughed. "My company is still waiting to go public."

"Wow! It's going public!" Tian Xi slapped the table. "Does that mean I can be the boss's wife?"

"You're more like the boss's sister," Lin Feng flicked her head.

The laughter in the living room had barely subsided when Tian Xiwei's phone rang. It was her mother. "Hello, Mom! Our movie has surpassed 100 million yuan!"

She shouted into the phone, "I'm at Feng's house now, and the breakfast Auntie made is super delicious... Okay, I'll be good and won't run around..."

After hanging up the phone, Liu Haochun also called home, her voice soft: "Dad, Mom, our box office is doing very well... Hmm, Brother Feng is treating me very well... Don't worry, I'll take good care of myself..."

Watching them make the phone call, Li Yitong recalled how her mother cried on the phone last night when she shared the good news with her parents: "Xiaoxue, you've finally made it through."

She didn't say anything then, but just looked at the moon outside the window, thinking to herself, "Yes, I've finally made it through, and I've even met someone I can walk forward with."

In the morning, Lin's mother was preparing vegetables in the kitchen. Tian Xiwei went over to help, but was chased away: "Go away, go play with your brother Feng, don't cause trouble here."

Liu Haochun helped Lin's father sort through old photos, pointing to a picture of Lin Feng as a child and laughing, "Uncle, Brother Feng was so cute when he was little."

"Cute? She's very mischievous," Lin's father laughed, his eyes crinkling. "She always takes Weiwei up trees to steal birds' nests, and I chase after her and beat her."

The lunch table was laden with food, as plentiful as if it were Chinese New Year.

"Eat more," Lin's mother said, putting food on his plate. "When you're away from home, you can't taste the flavors of home."

Tian Xiwei, while eating, suddenly said, "Auntie, when the movie surpasses 500 million, we'll come back to celebrate with you!"

"Okay," Lin's mother said with a smile, wiping her eyes. "I'll cook you a big meal."

Liu Haochun took a sip of chicken soup and said softly, "Thank you, Uncle and Aunt. This is the best meal I've ever had."

Li Yitong raised her glass and toasted Mr. and Mrs. Lin: "Uncle and Aunt, thank you for taking us in."

"We're family, don't talk about taking us in," Lin's father waved his hand, "Come visit often, the house will always be reserved for you."

After dinner, Lin Feng went to get his car, and Li Yitong helped Lin's mother clear the dishes. "Yitong," Lin's mother suddenly grabbed her hand, "Our Lin Feng seems carefree, but he's actually quite thoughtful. Please bear with him."

Li Yitong's cheeks flushed instantly, and she nodded: "Don't worry, Auntie, we'll take care of each other."

At the door, Tian Xiwei clung to Lin's mother's arm and said coquettishly, "Auntie, I'll keep an eye on Brother Feng and not let him bully anyone."

"It's good that you don't bully him." Lin's mother smiled and patted her back.

As the car drove out of the alley, Lin's parents were still standing at the door waving. Tian Xi rolled down the car window and shouted, "We'll be back!"

In the rearview mirror, the house grew smaller and smaller until it disappeared around the corner. Lin Feng sighed softly, and Li Yitong handed him a bottle of water: "Reluctant to part with it?"

"A little," he smiled, "but when I think about you guys, it feels like it's all the same no matter where I am."

Tian Xiwei and Liu Haochun leaned back in their seats, watching the scenery flash by outside the window. "What's good to eat in Chengdu?" Tian Xiwei asked.

"I heard that rabbit heads are delicious," Liu Haochun said.

"Huh? Rabbit head?" Tian Xi frowned slightly. "But rabbits are so cute, how can you eat them?"
