14: Family Letters
Zhou Ning loves her current life and enjoys spending time with Han Wen and Gu Amei. No matter how busy or tired she is, she likes it and is happy to do so.
However, the thought of having to go back to school in less than a month made her feel depressed and unhappy.
Fortunately, Kyoto University is not far from here. Even if you don't ride a bicycle, it's only a ten-minute walk.
Even though she has to go to school during the day, she can come and help out on Sundays and evenings. Just thinking about it makes me happy again.
After the three finished dinner, Gu Amei began washing the dishes and cleaning. Han Wen and Zhou Ning sat on the bamboo bed and started counting money and settling accounts.
Typing services are doing so well right now, and Hanwen is making a lot of money outside, earning hundreds or even thousands a day, which adds up to a huge sum in just a few days.
There was no safe in the shop, and keeping too much cash there was unsafe. So, Zhou Ning would go to the nearby Industrial and Commercial Bank of China every few days to deposit the money.
"Sigh, you made so much money today, I have to go to the bank again tomorrow." Zhou Ning held a large wad of RMB in his hand, pretending to sigh and look somewhat helpless: "So annoying."
"That's enough, Sister Ning. Look at your arrogant attitude, it's really speechless." Han Wen almost laughed to tears when he saw her acting all coquettish. "If you're afraid of getting tired or finding it troublesome, then you can just let Xiao Meizi do this from now on."
"Xiao Meizi won't do. The shop is too busy, and she can't leave. Besides, she's not familiar with the bank staff, so it's inconvenient for her to get things done."
"From now on, I'll continue to be in charge of this job." Zhou Ning shook his head and smiled.
It wasn't that she didn't trust Gu Amei, but this was the wealth she and Han Wen had painstakingly accumulated, and they couldn't afford any mishaps.
Besides, it feels really good to have control over the finances. And it's a huge sum of money.
"Okay, from now on, you'll have complete control over the store's finances. Nobody will fight you for it."
"Besides me, no one else dares to compete with you." Han Wen laughed: "But when I really need the money, you'd better hand over the financial reins. Don't hold on to it too tightly and be reluctant to let go."
"Hanwen, all this money is yours. Without you, I wouldn't have made any money, and I probably would have even lost money at the typing shop."
So, whether it's your money or mine, you can tell me whenever you need to use it.
You can have as much as you want. Even if you give me all of it, it's fine.
"This is my promise to you, and I will never break it." Zhou Ning nodded, her exceptional intelligence already noticing some of Han Wen's recent unusual behavior: "You've been buying newspapers and reading all sorts of financial news lately. Do you have other plans in mind?"
"The stock market in Shanghai and Shanghai has been very hot recently, and many people have made money by trading stocks."
I feel this is a great opportunity to make a lot of money, so I hope to pay attention to and learn about the stock market situation there through the newspaper.
Unfortunately, I live in Beijing, which is too far from Shanghai. Furthermore, I don't have a securities trading account. So, I can't buy stocks.
"Besides, even if I open an account now, I still won't be able to buy any stocks." Han Wen nodded, preparing to give Zhou Ning some information so that she could be mentally prepared for her future plans to trade stock subscription certificates in the Shanghai and Shanghai stock markets: "However, I'll keep an eye out first; it's always good to be prepared in advance."
When I have time, I'll definitely go to Shanghai and see for myself. Maybe we'll make money in the stock market someday.
Zhou Ning didn't know what a securities trading account was, nor did she know what stocks were. However, she was interested in anything that could make money.
Moreover, she now greatly admires Han Wen's earning power and has become somewhat blindly obedient to him.
"Hanwen, if you're going to invest in stocks, will you need a lot of money?" she couldn't help but ask.
"The more the better." Han Wen nodded: "Ten thousand or eighty thousand is not too many, several hundred thousand or even a million would be best."
"Okay, I understand." Zhou Ning nodded: "It's not easy to save up that much money."
Next, we not only need to work hard to earn money, but we also need to be more frugal in our daily lives and expenses.
"Sister Ning, whoever marries you will be happy for the rest of their life." Han Wen smiled: "Because you will definitely be a virtuous and capable wife."
"Am I really that good?" Zhou Ning was delighted and jokingly asked, "Then when you grow up, will you come and marry me?"
"Okay. A woman three years older than a man is considered lucky. You and I are a perfect match." Han Wen nodded. "Sister Ning, behind every successful man is a woman who silently supports him. Are you really willing to be that woman who silently supports him?"
Zhou Ning felt she would be willing, provided the man was Korean.
However, being a shy young woman, she was naturally embarrassed to admit it. Instead, she made up an excuse to scold Hanwen.
"Hanwen, what do you mean? Are you implying that I'm too old?"
"Let me tell you, it's not that I'm older than you, it's that you're younger than me." Zhou Ning pretended to be angry and snorted, "Xiao Meizi isn't that old, you can go find her."
Seeing Zhou Ning being unreasonable and irrational, Han Wen almost went crazy with laughter.
He wasn't stupid enough to reason with the other person, so he jumped out of bed and ran away. Then, he found a basin and a towel, and went outside to take a shower at the tap.
"Sister Ning, are you going back tonight?" Gu Amei asked with concern after finishing her work.
"It's getting late, I'm not going back. I'll sleep with you tonight." Zhou Ning glanced at the time on the alarm clock and said, "Every time I go back, Han Wen worries about me and takes me home by bicycle."
He's so tired during the day, I don't want him to have to run around at night.
"Sister Ning, you're so good to Brother Han." Gu Amei smiled. "Then I'll take a bucket downstairs to fetch water, and then we'll take a bath and rest."
Zhou Ning, who was naturally outgoing and generous, didn't stand on ceremony with Gu Amei: "Alright, go ahead. Be careful when you go upstairs."
After Gu Amei carried the bucket downstairs, Zhou Ning prepared to put the money in his hand away.
She opened the bedside table and found a letter inside.
This letter was sent from the Southwest Province, addressed to Ningning Typing Shop, and addressed to Han Wen.
Zhou Ning was too busy during the day, and after receiving the letter from the postman, he put it aside and forgot about it.
Seeing it now, I realize that this letter should have been sent by Han Wen's mother.
"Hanwen, a letter has arrived from your hometown." Zhou Ning walked to the window and shouted out the window, "I haven't read the contents of the letter, but if I'm not mistaken, it should be from your mother."
"What did you say?" Han Wen, shirtless, looked up and asked, "Sister Ning, speak louder, I can't hear you."
"I said, here is a letter from home, it should have been written to you by your mother," Zhou Ning answered loudly.
"Oh, my mom wrote me a letter?" Han Wen was surprised and astonished. He quickly took a shower and prepared to go upstairs.
