Chapter 167 - 153: Pregnancy Test
Chapter 167 - 153: Pregnancy Test
The family chatted until almost nine before parting ways.
As she was leaving, Sean Thorne and Lily Colton gave Annabelle Leighton an especially thick red envelope.
"Uncle, Auntie, I can’t possibly accept this," Annabelle Leighton demurred.
"Take it. It’s just a small token of our affection. If you don’t accept, it means you don’t think of us as your aunt and uncle."
Upon hearing that, Annabelle Leighton quickly tucked the red envelope away.
"Well, thank you, Uncle and Auntie."
"Good girl."
Leaving the Thorne family’s home, Annabelle Leighton still felt completely enveloped in a warm sense of happiness.
"Your uncle’s family has such a wonderful atmosphere. I really love it."
"If you like it, I’ll bring you here more often."
"Okay." Annabelle Leighton glanced at Morgan Hayes. "I’m just sorry that I probably won’t be able to take you to meet my dad."
Meeting Morgan Hayes’s family today naturally made Annabelle think of her own dysfunctional one. She didn’t even want to go back herself, let alone bring him with her.
"It doesn’t matter. I’ve already met your grandmother," Morgan Hayes said, stroking Annabelle’s head. "To me, the people who truly love you are your real family."
Annabelle squeezed Morgan Hayes’s hand. She’d never realized before what a gentle and warm man he truly was.
"I feel like kissing you again," Annabelle said.
"Let’s go home."
"What if I can’t wait until we get home?"
Morgan Hayes glanced around before asking dotingly, "Then can you wait until we get to the car?"
"I’ll do my best."
He laughed and led her quickly to the car.
Morgan Hayes started to get into the driver’s seat, but Annabelle pulled him into the back.
The moment they got in the car, Annabelle pounced on Morgan, kissing him like a ravenous wolf. He appeared calm, but in reality, he was completely susceptible to her charms.
They were soon tangled up together.
Of course, they didn’t go all the way, because there were no condoms in the car.
Morgan Hayes was extremely principled in this regard. Even if holding back was torture, he would never risk Annabelle’s health. That’s why Annabelle never worried about an accidental pregnancy.
But to her surprise, despite Morgan being so careful, her period was late this month.
Annabelle’s period usually came at the end of the month. When it didn’t arrive, she first assumed it was a hormonal imbalance from work-related stress and made a mental note to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor when she had a chance.
But that afternoon at the studio, they ordered takeout. The moment she caught a whiff of onions, she began to dry heave uncontrollably.
This set alarm bells ringing in her head.
It wasn’t that Annabelle didn’t want to have Morgan’s child. Ever since learning about his background, a faint desire to build a family with him had taken root in her heart. It was just that the timing wasn’t right.
For one, they weren’t married yet. For another, Isla Prescott was pregnant. ’If I get pregnant too, what’ll happen to our dance studio?’
With a heart full of anxiety, Annabelle had two pregnancy tests express-delivered to her apartment. She canceled her afternoon meeting and slipped home to take them.
To be on the safe side, she used both. But both tests showed the same result: one dark line and one faint line.
’What does one dark and one faint line mean?’
She had no experience, so she had to look it up online.
The internet said it meant a weak positive. She might be pregnant, but it wasn’t a sure thing.
’So the test was basically useless. I still have to go to the hospital.’
Annabelle didn’t want to spend another second overthinking it. She just wanted an answer, so she rushed straight to the hospital.
She had just come out of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department with a lab slip for a blood test when she bumped into Willow Thorne.
"Annabelle, what are you doing here?" Willow Thorne’s eyes went from the large sign for the "Obstetrics and Gynecology Department" to Annabelle’s pale face. "Annabelle, are you pregnant?"
