Chapter 791: Ysoria, Is That You?
Chapter 791: Ysoria, Is That You?
The world dissolved into utter darkness.
There was no light, no sound, no sensation of any kind. Just an endless void of pure black.
And then she saw a light in the distance—a faint glimmer, growing brighter as she approached it.
She opened her eyes, and what she saw made them go wide with wonder and admiration.
She was floating in the middle of the cosmos!
Stars stretched out in every direction, infinite and beautiful.
Distant suns were being born, their light just beginning to break through the darkness.
Supernovas collapsed into black holes, their explosive deaths creating something new.
Galaxies swirled in the distance, millions of worlds spinning in perfect harmony.
It was the most breathtaking thing she had ever seen.
She drifted through the cosmos, marveling at the sheer beauty of it all.
Shooting stars blazed past her, and she found herself smiling despite everything she’d witnessed earlier.
For a moment, she forgot about all her questions, all her confusion. She simply existed, floating in the infinite majesty of the universe.
And then she noticed something that made her freeze.
There was someone else here!
A man was floating not far from her, his back turned.
She’d thought she was alone in this vast expanse, but she wasn’t. Another being existed in this cosmic void.
And he was glorious!
Even from behind, she could tell he wasn’t human.
His presence radiated power, majesty, something ancient and divine.
Long black hair flowed down to his feet, rippling as if caught in a celestial breeze.
His clothes were luxurious yet simple, the kind of garments a king of the universe might wear.
Most importantly, she could feel his presence.
It resonated with her own spirit, just like the presence of the Goddess of Light or the Goddess of Debauchery.
This was a God...a true God.
One whose power seemed even greater than the others she’d encountered.
Joy’s heart raced. She knew this was dangerous.
She was alone, in a god’s domain, with no way to protect herself.
But she couldn’t stop herself. She had to know who this was.
And more than that—she felt a strange sense of familiarity with this being.
She didn’t recognize him, didn’t know why he felt familiar.
But something about him called to her, drawing her closer.
Slowly, hesitantly, she floated around him. She was terrified of disturbing him, terrified of what might happen if she got too close.
But she couldn’t stop herself.
She reached his side...and she saw his face.
And the moment she did—
It felt like a nuclear bomb had gone off in her skull.
Her eyes trembled uncontrollably. Her mouth fell open so wide she could have fit an entire egg inside it. Her entire body went rigid with shock.
The god she’d been so awestruck by—the being of infinite power, ancient presence, and divine majesty was someone she recognized.
It was Cassius!
Not the young, mischievous Cassius she knew.
Not the cold, emotionless Cassius she’d seen in those brutal memories.
This was something else entirely!
This was Cassius as a god—glorious, magnificent, radiating power that could shake the foundations of the universe!
His crimson eyes still burned with that familiar intensity, but now they seemed to hold the weight of countless ages.
His handsome face was the same, but honed to perfection, features so sharp and striking that even the goddesses would weep for him.
And that smile—that damned confident smile that drove her insane was firmly in place, as if he knew exactly how magnificent he was.
And the presence he gave off—it was overwhelming. She felt small and insignificant next to him, like a mortal standing before a star.
But despite all that, despite the grandeur and majesty and overwhelming power, there was no mistaking it.
This was Cassius.
The same Cassius who had teased her, touched her, held her when she cried.
The same Cassius who had given her Sir Fluffington the Second and a scarf made of woolly sheep wool.
The same Cassius who had looked at her with such warmth that it made her heart ache.
Joy stared at him, utterly speechless. Her mind raced with a thousand questions, but none of them could form into words.
’Who are you?’ She wanted to ask. ’What are you? How is this possible?’
But the words wouldn’t come. She could only float there, stunned, staring at the being before her with wide, trembling eyes.
But before she could even begin to formulate answers, something even more shocking occurred!
The god-like Cassius, who had been staring thoughtfully into the distance as if searching for answers among the stars—
—suddenly turned his head.
He looked straight at her!
Joy’s heart stopped. Her blood turned to ice in her veins.
’Impossible. He can’t see me. I’m just a corporeal form, just a visitor passing through his memories—’
But the way his crimson eyes locked onto her floating form told her everything she needed to know.
He could see her. He knew she was there.
And then he began to float toward her.
Joy felt her breath catch in her throat as the magnificent being glided through the void, his long black hair trailing behind him like a river of shadows.
His expression shifted from distant contemplation to keen curiosity as he studied her.
She watched his eyes roam over her form, taking in every detail, and she felt strangely exposed under that penetrating gaze.
Then he spoke and his voice, though unmistakably Cassius’s, carried a resonance that seemed to vibrate through the very fabric of the cosmos itself.
"Ysoria?" He said, his tone assessing, almost disbelieving. "Is that you?"
Joy opened her mouth to respond, but no words came. She was utterly frozen, caught in the gravity of his presence.
He circled her slowly, his eyes traveling up and down her form. His expression shifted to one of faint bemusement as he took in her clothing.
"What are those garments you’re wearing?" He asked, genuine curiosity coloring his voice. "I’ve never seen anything quite like them before."
He tilted his head the other way, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips.
"Nonetheless, you still look quite pretty no matter what you wear." He let out a low chuckle. "Though I must say, these particular clothes give you a rather...holy feel. Which is quite ironic, considering how vividly your curves can be seen beneath them."
"It’s quite intoxicating, to say the least."
Joy blinked, utterly baffled. She’d expected the god version of Cassius to be dignified, sage-like, different from the man she knew.
But instead, he was making lewd remarks about her body, just like the Cassius she dealt with every day.
’Some things truly never change.’ She thought, a bizarre mix of exasperation and fondness washing over her.
But then, the god-like Cassius’s expression shifted.
He frowned, his eyes narrowing as he studied her more closely.
The playful demeanor faded, replaced by something more intense, more analytical.
"No." He said slowly, shaking his head. "You aren’t Ysoria."
Joy stiffened. She had no idea who this Ysoria was, but clearly the god-Cassius had mistaken her for someone else.
He continued to study her, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
"Even though you look like her—practically identical in fact—you aren’t her at all."
He paused, a frown creasing his brow. "But that’s strange. I don’t recall her having any sisters."
His expression changed back to something more playful, a smug smile appearing on his face.
"If she did have a sister, I would have already made my move on her. I’m not one to let such opportunities pass me by."
Joy rolled her eyes despite everything.
’Absolutely insufferable. Even as a god, he’s still the same incorrigible pervert.’
Cassius then gasped suddenly, as if struck by a revelation.
"Don’t tell me—you’re actually her descendant!?"
He paused, considering his own theory before shaking his head.
"No, that’s not possible either. If you were truly her descendant, you would definitely have my bloodline as well."
"After all..."
He crossed his arms, looking quite proud of himself.
"...she is my woman. Her children would absolutely have my blood flowing through them."
Joy’s mind raced.
This Ysoria person, whoever she was had apparently been in some sort of relationship with the god-Cassius before her.
But she couldn’t make sense of it.
She didn’t know who Ysoria was, didn’t understand what kind of relationship they’d had, and didn’t know why this Cassius was speaking to her as if she should know all of this.
But before she could ask any questions, the god-Cassius moved closer to her, his hands clasped behind his back.
He leaned in, studying her face with an intensity that would have been unnerving from anyone else.
Yet Joy didn’t feel threatened.
Despite his overwhelming power and the fact that he could probably unmake her with a thought, she felt...safe. The same way she always felt around Cassius, no matter what form he took.
She let him look. Let him study her eyes, her features, her soul.
"Just who are you?" He murmured, his voice barely audible.
He was silent for a long moment, his gaze drilling into her very essence.
Then his breath caught, and he pulled back with a look of dawning comprehension.
"Could it be?" He said, his voice filled with wonder. "Could it be that you actually are—"
He cut himself off, not finishing the sentence.
Instead, he raised his hand, his fingers beginning to move in complex patterns.
Joy watched in astonishment as he seemed to be making mental calculations, his fingers tracing arcane symbols that glowed faintly in the cosmic void.
It was like watching someone perform mathematics so advanced that it transcended the boundaries of reality itself.
He was calculating something—something that seemed to involve the very fabric of existence.
Finally, he clenched his fist slowly. A serene smile spread across his face, as if he’d just realized the answer to a question he’d been asking for eons.
"I see." He said softly. "So that’s who you are."
He shook his head, a fond expression crossing his features.
"Faeya...You really had to meddle, didn’t you?"
The name struck Joy like a bolt of lightning.
Faeya. Where had she heard that name before?
She searched her memory frantically, and then it hit her.
The proper name of the Goddess of Nature!
The same woman the Goddess of Light and the Goddess of Debauchery thought of as an older sister.
The being considered the strongest in the entire universe!
Joy felt her jaw drop. Cassius was talking about her. And it seemed like Faeya had done something that even he was surprised by.
"I guess it makes sense." Cassius continued, his voice tinged with a sadness that made Joy’s heart ache. "She was never someone who could let go so easily. She just had to bring us all back."
He let out a heavy sigh. "She probably felt so lonely. She wanted to see us all again."
Joy didn’t understand what he was talking about, but the look on his face—the grief, the longing was unmistakable.
This was someone who had lost something precious and still mourned, even after all these eons.
But then he seemed to shake off the melancholy, his expression brightening as he turned back to her with a curious smile.
"So." He said, his tone lightening considerably. "How exactly is the Cassius on the other side?"
"Is he living a happy life?! Does he have a whole bunch of women that he loves very much?!"
