Chapter 787 - 406 The Overbearing Mistress and the Betrayal of a Close Friend
On this side, Jade Willow was in a state of panic and collapse, in stark contrast to Alexander King’s emotions.
The man pulling all the strings sat in the office, smiling coldly.
He intended to sever every path of escape for this greedy and malicious woman, until he stripped her back to her true self.
Originally, she wasn’t meant for this kind of life; he happened to come across her then and spent some money to save her.
Otherwise, by now, she should have been trained and sold to high-class hotels, engaging in the flesh trade, being toyed with by wave after wave of men.
But he let her live a good life; he merely got his payment in return, yet this woman became terrifyingly greedy and conceived such thoughts, which were unforgivable.
She ought to return to her former life; she received the best but didn’t know gratitude.
From the beginning, he had said that the two were merely engaging in a cash-for-goods transaction, to which she agreed, yet in the end, she pulled this stunt.
His wife? She thought she could be his wife? Alexander King laughed coldly to himself.
Suddenly, he recalled the times he lived with Nora Thompson. She would dress in the most comfortable cotton home wear, curl up on the sofa, with warm lighting, reading and waiting for him. When he was hungry, she would make a light supper that comforted his entire stomach.
But why couldn’t she wait a little longer? Wait for him to see clearly his own heart?
Actually, he didn’t dislike Nora Thompson. He was just forced to accept it at first, so he felt some resistance.
Soon all the bills were sent to Jade Willow, but her cash was barely enough for a meal. Her spoiled appetite was already refined; she couldn’t adapt like a normal person, dealing with a meal at a roadside stall. She thought of those diamonds that gleamed with beautiful light, but how could she cash them in?
She couldn’t bear to be humiliated, looking sorrowfully at the rubies, yellow diamonds, and pink diamonds, which she usually loved the most but now became beautiful stones that caused her headache.
"Alexander, it’s me, please meet me just once, I’ve truly hit a dead end."
She left a message for Alexander King, wanting to figure out what was going on.
But the man who had always been generous with her offers vanished like a mud ox in the sea and left no message anymore; Alexander had completely disappeared from her world, and she couldn’t find him.
Joshua Hughes’ office
"Boss, everything about Beckett Wright’s activities is normal. We have filtered all his calls, and there’s no suspicious information. His computer has been monitored, but so far, nothing has been found. Miss Jane hasn’t used her ID card for any travel or accommodation registration and hasn’t used her bank card either. If there is any new situation, we will report it to you immediately. However, from the current situation, it’s possible someone helped Miss Jane change her identity, so we simply can’t find her."
The person on the other end of the phone reported cautiously. It’s been many days, and their intelligence web was extensive, yet they found no trace of Avery Jane.
Exit records and hotel registration records, all of it yielded nothing.
There are only two possibilities: either she is dead or she has changed her identity and hidden away, making it even harder to find.
Joshua Hughes hung up the phone, eyes thoughtful. Avery Jane, as long as you are still alive, I will definitely find you.......
Finding a person who is intentionally hiding, without the identity markers he knows of, is as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack.
Joshua Hughes stood in front of the huge glass window, overlooking the bustling city below, the endless flow of people and cars, all appearing dull.
In a world without her, everything always seemed gray.
"President Hughes, someone downstairs is asking to see you, without an appointment. She says she’s a friend of Miss Jane, her surname is Shao."
The secretary knocked on the door and walked in, formally reporting.
Recently, everyone could tell Joshua Hughes was in a terrible mood. Traditionally, around year-end, the staff of the Hughes Clan had it easier, because throughout the year, everyone worked tirelessly, and under Joshua Hughes’ leadership, the annual results were impressive. However, this year, no matter how good the data was, it couldn’t withstand Joshua Hughes’ fury. Anyone reporting data, no matter how quickly the growth, couldn’t escape facing the boss’s icy stare, or even being hit hard by a folder, barely able to stand. Rumors spread privately within the company, but no one knew what was truly driving the boss’s bad mood.
